The first electric winch on our list comes with a rated line pull of 9500 lbs. Interestingly, this winch has 2 versions in terms of the type of winch cable. That means you can get this winch with a synthetic rope or a steel cable.

There are a few key differences between these 2 versions. First off, the synthetic rope version comes with an 85 feet long rope.

In addition, it features a hawse fairlead and it weighs about 63.9 lbs. On the other hand, the steel cable version has a weight of 82.8 lbs.

Interestingly, both of these devices measure the same at 23.25 x 13.5 x 12.5 inches. Now, the steel cable version comes with a 100 feet (length) x 5/16 inches (diameter) cable. Thus it features a 4-way roller fairlead.

The winches come with a wired handheld remote control with 12 feet cable. So, you will be able to make sure you are operating it from a safe distance. RC has used 5.5 Hp powerful series-wound motors on these winches.

Also, the devices feature 3-stage planetary gear with a gear ratio of 265:1. It is also equipped with a sliding ring gear clutch for smooth operation.

For safety, it has an auto in the drum braking system. The device comes with an IP67 waterproof and dustproof certification. As a result, it can handle those dirty trails without a hitch.

Additionally, it has both power in and power out functions. Overall, both the version of this 9500 lbs. load capacity winch are of top-quality and will last a long time.

So, if you are here on Overlandsite looking for a reliable winch for your Jeep, SUV, or trailer, you can go with this one. It’s just about the right size for an average-size overlander vehicle.

Similar to the last one, this winch from RC also has 2 versions. But most importantly, this one comes with a load capacity of up to 12,000 lbs.

This means it is one of the most powerful winches from Rough Country. So, if you are looking for a winch for your large truck, this could be a good choice.

Now, the synthetic rope version of this winch comes with an 85 feet (length) x 3/8 inch (diameter) rope and hawse fairleads. On the flip side, the steel cable version is integrated with a 100 feet (⅜ inches diameter) steel cable

The winch with the steel cable weighs about 87.8 lbs. and the other one weighs about 64.15 lbs. But both winches measure the same at 21.3 x 6.3 x 8.6 inches. Before choosing between the two, make sure your suspension can handle the extra weight at the front of the vehicle (usually at the front).

As usual, the synthetic rope winch comes with a hawse fairlead, whereas the other one features a 4-way roller fairlead.

They have included a wired handheld remote control. It has 12 feet cable so that the user can maneuver the winch from a safe distance. It has both power in and power out function.

The winch is also water and dustproof as it is IP67 certified. The drum size of these winches is 2.52 in (diameter) and 8.82 in (length).

The winches use a 3-stage planetary gear system with a gear ratio of 265:1. At the same time, it also has a 6 HP series wound motor, which is powerful, yet quiet while operating.

Also, it uses automatic in-drum braking action for safety. Both these winches are compatible with the 10 x 4.5 inch mounting bolt pattern.

The sliding ring gear clutch makes it very smooth while operating the winch. Make sure you are getting a sufficiently strong battery for electric winch. Because it is a power-hungry winch.

However, you will get all the necessary installation accessories and wiring in the package for free. So, if you are in the market for a ruggedly built 12000 lbs. load capacity winch without spending a fortune, then this Rough Country winch could be a good choice.

What Previous Buyers Said?

The former buyers of this 12,000 lb winch are very content with the performance of it. They have said it could take a few hours to install. But other than that, it works like a monster.

A few buyers even said that this is the best bang for your buck compared to its competitors. They have liked it because of its powerful performance and reliable build quality, the most.

Pros:

  • Heavy-duty powerful winch
  • Great price to performance ratio
  • Comes with 2 years of warranty
  • IP 67 waterproof and dustproof
  • Available with both synthetic rope and steel cable

Cons:

  • No wireless remote included
